Milano

It's a challenge to travel on the short hops-- we had 2 nights in Milano and I realized it was not nearly enough. "The Last Supper" viewings were booked by April when I tried to make a reservation, so that was off the list. Milano felt so mellow compared to the buzz of Rome. However, it's streets scream of a complex sophistication. Our apartment was on the 10th and top floor of a complex of 3 buildings manned by a doorman. The elevator could only handle 2 at a time. The view was of the Duomo on one side and the new financial district on the other. The only thing we did not like about Milan were the mosquitoes. We shopped and people-watched. We also had to scale a 2.5 meter fence to catch our early-morning train-- yikes.
